Oval or egg-shaped green fruits are covered with a thin waxy skin with fine hairs, which can be consumed, but more often fejchoa is consumed peeled. The flesh is cream in color, soft and gelatinous, fine-grained. The center of the fruit is full of small seeds that are soft and edible. Even after ripening, the fejchoa still has a dark green color. Fejchoa has a slightly sour taste reminiscent of a mixture of wild strawberries, gooseberries, kiwi and pineapple. They smell very sweet and strong. The best taste is achieved by fejchoa at the stage of high maturity, when the skin is pliable and soft. The fruits are very sensitive to bruising and do not last too long at room temperature, but they can be stored in the refrigerator or even frozen.
